This is a huge redwood burl slab. I think it is from right where the tree turns from “root” to wood. It is 6 feet long and about 40 inches wide with convaluted perimeter. I call it the Buffalo. The slab is 2 1/2 inches thick. I built this s few years ago and sold it through Studio One 11 in Palm Springs. I hope whoever has it is enjoying it.
Building table like this is the most satisfying work I get to do. When I find good slabs, it’s a godsend. I am paying direct homage to one of my heroes, George Nakashima. Until I discover a better way to make the bases, I’m happy doing it Georges way.
If anyone has a cool slab, call me. We’ll turn it into something special.
